Maggie Johnson, reporter: It’s supposed to be the ultimate thrill for visitors to Victoria Falls. But this jump is about to go horribly wrong.
Onlookers: Shouts.
Maggie Johnson, reporter: As the cord snaps, Erin Langworthy plunges the remainder of the 111-metre fall, headfirst into the crocodile-infested Zambezi River.
Erin: It went black, um, straight away and I felt like I had been slapped all over.
Onlooker: She’s in the water!
Maggie Johnson, reporter: With her legs still tied by the bungee cord, the Australian student was being dragged downstream towards the rapids, the trailing rope snagging on rocks and pulling her under water.
Erin: I actually had to swim down and yank the bungee cord out of whatever it was caught into.
Onlooker: Oh my God, who’s going to do something?
Maggie Johnson, reporter: Despite struggling to keep her head above the water, she managed to swim towards the rocks to wait for rescuers.
Erin: When I was first pulled out of the water, they put me on my back, and so all the water that I’d inhaled, um, meant that I couldn’t breathe. So, um, I ma-made them roll me onto my side, and that’s when I started coughing out water and blood.
Maggie Johnson, reporter: These were her injuries, cuts and bruises. She was treated in Zimbabwe then taken to South Africa, where doctors were amazed she hadn’t been more seriously hurt.
Erin: Yes, I think it’s definitely a miracle that I survived.
Maggie Johnson, reporter: The company says the faulty cord has been replaced and insists the jumps are safe, but Erin will be hoping this truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This is a great exercise, i would never go bungee jumping it is crazy and scary!
My god ! It's so dangerous. I'm afraid of the height, so if someone invited me to go bungee jumping, I would refuse. It's not worth to do that scary thing.
