Chocolate festival!

A few weekends ago, a friend and I, both spending this year abroad in the south of France, decided to go to the chocolate festival, known as the ‘Feria du Chocolat’ in Beziers! I’ve never been to a food festival before, so it was a new experience for me. I had a fantastic time - although I have never eaten so much chocolate in one day!

There were stalls selling boxes of chocolates, sweets, dessert wines, jams, and crepes. All the stall owners were very friendly, explaining their methods of making chocolate, showing us photos of their factories, and, of course, letting us try their products! My friend bought some chocolate cups, which I think is a great novelty - you drink your drink, and then you can eat the chocolate cup!

We then went to a masterclass where we learnt how to make truffles and big chocolate buttons of piped chocolate topped with dried fruit and nuts! To make the truffles, we rolled balls of ganache into a big pot of melted chocolate, and then covered them in delicious toppings - pistachio nuts, broken crepe pieces, cocoa powder, dried coconut and even little bits of dark chocolate. They tasted delicious, and we all got to take some home with us! I was planning on saving them for when my family come to visit - but unfortunately they were too tasty, so I’ve already eaten them all!

I was a little nervous before the masterclass, as there were only 12 people in a class, and I wasn’t sure if my French would be good enough to understand everything! Luckily, everyone was extremely friendly - the lady next to me was making notes of everything we did, so she explained when I didn’t understand. At the end, our class stayed in the room and chatted about how much we were enjoying the day of eating lots of chocolate!

Have you ever been to a food festival before? Have you ever tried to make your own chocolates? How much chocolate do you eat?

Its fantastic to eat pop corn while watching the movie! I also go to have dinner at a restaurant with my friends after the movie! Are you doing any sport?

Hi Ash! Wow those food exhibitions sound great! What kinds of food were there? Was there a themed food? I love chocolate brownies too! My friend has recently introduced me to 'blondies' which are white chocolate brownies! They are really tasty, especially with vanilla ice cream!

Wow! those 'blondies' sound delicious! I love white chocolate too! But I've never tasted 'blondies'. Do you make them at home?

Hi Teresa! I love Italian style too! Usually I like most of the other styles as well. But I don't like Thai food very much, because they are very salted! Are you interested in eating sea food?

Hi Ash! No, I haven't had a full English breakfast for years! Lot of people think that the English eat it every day, but it's not true. I like sausages and bacon, so I often have those as part of an evening meal, but usually for breakfast I eat bread and jam, or cereals with fruit. Have you ever tried a full English breakfast? What do you normally eat for breakfast?

Hi Ash! I absolutely love watching movies and TV shows - I like comedies the best. I love going to the cinema with my friends - I always get popcorn when I go! When I'm at home I go nearly every week, because it is half price on a Wednesday. Do you like movies? Do you go to the cinema often?

At the festivals you can taste different kinds of dishes, participate at games, listen to music and just have a good time.

Hi Maline! I've just moved into a new apartment which doesn't have an oven either! I'm sad because I used to love baking at home. Luckily, there is a brilliant cake shop just around the corner from my flat - and it sells great chocolate cake! What's your favourite cake or cookie?

I've never been yo a food festival before, even though they're organised in my country. I've tried to make my own chocolate a few times, and it was really delicious. I like eating chocolate, but no too much and not everyday, because it's not good for teeth, but it's good for concentration. That's why I eat some chocolate when I have some test at school or something.
