McBusted

by SarahT

I am a 90s child. I was born in 1993 and enjoyed everything that the 90s decade had to offer, particularly the music. From Britney Spears, to the Spice Girls and dancing to the Macarena at school discos (which we still do any chance we get), 90s music was full of cheesy teen and dance pop.

By the beginning of the ‘noughties’ (year 2000), many of the 90s bands had broken up, but a new boy band, Busted, arrived and became very popular with boys and girls of the 90s as well as their parents (well they were with mine!). Well known for their upbeat and somewhat bizarre yet catchy songs particularly ‘Year 3000’, ‘Air Hostess’ and ‘Crashed the Wedding’, Busted had many hits and after two successful albums, their fans were all very upset when the group decided to split in 2005.

Following their success, Busted helped launch a boy band into fame that we all know as McFly, by inviting them on their UK tour in 2004. McFly quickly became one of the most successful bands in the UK and have since become very popular worldwide. Both Busted and McFly have been extremely popular, they are very similar in music genre, and have been good friends for years.

On the 11th November 2013, McFly announced that they would be forming a super group with Busted called McBusted! My inner ten-year-old self came out, and I started playing every Busted song that I own and proceeded to dance, jump and play air guitar in true Busted fashion. I’m pretty sure the whole country screamed with excitement!  Despite one member of Busted not taking part in their new venture, millions of teenagers and twenty-something-year-olds have gone crazy for the limited number of McBusted tickets that went on sale last week. More dates have been added due to high demand, and I’m possibly the only person who is not going. I would give anything to be able to go, but unfortunately I will be working in Paris and won’t be able to make it back to the UK for one night. This saddens me greatly, as I was a big fan of Busted, and love McFly too and together they sound amazing; it really is an unmissable concert that has made history! I’m hoping that they will release a tour DVD so I can pretend that I was there!
