Last week I went on holiday with my friends to Corsica. It was my first time visiting the island and I had an incredible time! We took the ferry from Toulon, France to the city Ajaccio where we stayed at a bed and breakfast for the week. Although France and Corsica seem quite close together, the ferry journey was eight hours long so we kept ourselves entertained by chatting and playing card games.
I couldn't believe how hot and sunny the weather was, considering it's October! We went to the beach to go sunbathing and some of my friends even went swimming in the sea. The Corsican scenery is absolutely beautiful so one day we made a picnic, went for a long walk along the coast and took lots of pictures.
Ajaccio is famous for being Napoléon's birthplace so we also went to visit the Maison Bonaparte, the ancestral home of the Bonaparte family where Napoléon grew up. The house is now a national museum and is full of history.
One day we took the local train to another city called Corte, which is also very beautiful. We visited the Citadel and museum where we learned more about Corsican history and enjoyed the stunning views of the city.
The food in Corsica is amazing and we often visited the market to taste some delicious cheeses and nougat. We also went to some local restaurants for dinner where we ate fresh seafood and wild boar pâté, a Corsican delicacy.
At the end of the trip we were very sad to leave and I hope to return to Corsica again one day.
Do you like the sound of Corsica? Where in the world would you most like to visit?
