Someone I admire

My cousin Laura

Someone I admire is my cousin Laura. She’s five years older than me, so she’s 19 now and she lives in Bristol. She’s very friendly and confident and she’s got long, wavy, brown hair and greeny-brown eyes. She’s medium height, slim and very fit because she’s a dancer.

She’s been dancing since she was six years old and trains every day at her dance school. She wants to be a professional dancer, but it’s a very difficult profession because it’s so competitive. She often dances in shows and I’ve been to watch her several times. Her favourite type of dance is modern, which is sometimes a bit strange, but I love watching her dance.

Laura is very busy because she also studies photography at university. She’s a really good photographer and has taken lots of amazing photos of me and my family. Her photos have won a few prizes and last year one of her photos was in an exhibition at an art gallery in London.

Laura doesn’t have a lot of free time and she’s also trying to learn German because she wants to go to Germany next year to do a photography course. I think Laura is very hard-working and she deserves to become a professional dancer one day.

Who I admire ? I admire myself because of various reason !
1) I often get up before the sun to review old lesson and prepare new ones incase my teachers ask me to join in a small oral test.
2) I always doing homework frequently and industriously and only have dinner after finishing all exercises. My brain's still working whereas my belly is on strike.
3) I join in a website and study all subjects there but I never cut class and always try to join in online tests as much as possible.
4) I never forget to greet the guardian and nurse at school whenever I meet them as " A greeting is a sunshine ".
5) I am patient enough to do extra homework ( Which I collect from online teachers who never know about my existence ).
6) I'm really a brave soldier as I'm consistent to study in the evening regardless of being attack by mosquito ( I admit, my legs are itchy ;)
7) I look up to myself because I don't hesitate to change and always " refresh " myself. While my friends still care about North American and European masterpieces, I 've discover alot about Japanese, Korean and South American literature. Moreover, I am avid for Indonesian culture ( Dangdut music and the renowned book " The rainbow Troops".

But, I am not arrogant at all :) I believe each of us has a special talent. And maybe you didn;t realise. You have some advantages that the others always aspire, you're good at social subject whereas I am hopeless at them, you visit many big cities whereas I have never left my delta, but I can play pen tapping and pen rolling but you can't...Therefore, love yourselves, admire yourselves, treat yourselves happily before you expect to be respected by others..

Always positive, cheerful, upbeat, admire yourselves and never let yourselves be looked down on ! This song is for you : Who says ? ( Selena Gomez )

Hi gianggian
Great to hear you admiring yourself! Very impressive.✨

You know, sometimes it's very important to treat yourself as the respect you believe it deserves, which far from a boast.
In our life, it's not all tea and crumpet. It's not all roses and sunny days. Then a cowardly custard whispered me, "Sit in a well so that you won't get wet and won't be bothered by bad smell". It was enough to start with, but one day I found myself wandering through great reaches of a tunnel for ages.

This is wrong. It's not the place I should live. I need the sun to be myself. I need fresh air to move forward. I need a partaker with my joys and sorrows by side to help each other.
Then, my naughty soul whispered, "Come out of the tunnel of your despair and let's play outside! Rain? Not care at all. Bad smell? Not give two hoots! Find peace!"

“The train came out of the long border tunnel - and there was the snow country. The night had turned white.”
Snow Country... may also be the place where I can be myself being curled in someone's warm embrace. :)

Hi Elza,
A positive thought ! But it's my turn to sit in that well so as to avoid bad smell and rains ( No, exactly, not to be bothered by thunderstorm and lightning,..) My English test result was too bad, terrible :(((

It's my turn, I have a small social exercise : ( It is me who is the author of these questions :)

1) Has jealousy ever mingled with admiration ? Set an example and explain your opinion.
2) How would you feel and what would you do if one day, talent of the person you admire a lot were exposed as a fake ?
3) What are differences between admiring a billionaire and admiring a brilliant student who is the same age as you ?

Choose only ONE question to answer and find the relationships between Question 1 and Q3, Q2 and Q3. Good luck.

Hey, giang, it's not the time for sitting in the well!! :p
I can't believe you've got a bad test result.... What happened to you, giang, for a lack of sleep?

Anyway, I'll try to answer your good questions!
Okay, I think I must choose Q3 to connect other questions as you say, although my answer may sound nonsense!

"Admiring a billionaire" and "admiring a brilliant student who is the same age as you" have in common in terms of 'admiring' :). It does not matter who to admire, the very fact is to 'admire'.
Although some people may think there are different levels of 'admiration' which includes jealousy, self-admiration, unspoken admiration, heartfelt admiration, respect and so on, in my opinion, there is no such admiration mingling with jealousy! There will be anything new out of jealousy, which only to cause spiral downward with a panic and negative feelings that I had before. Now I understand admiration is beyond the self and the status quo.
Additionally, I rarely admire celebrities or ordinary people who try to attract admiration with brilliant stories and make a big scene, since there are two sides on the same coin. I maybe a bit suspicious. Indeed, my most admirable person is my dad despite the fact that I knew the time when he was not going along in top gear, though who passed away suddenly.

Don't narrow your perspectives in the well, gianggian!✨

If someone asked me who I admired most in the world, I would answer immediately without hesitaing: my mother, my mother.
My mother is a full figured woman, but she has a charming smile. That smile is like a fresh wind blowing at dawn and like a sunflower grown in a sunny hill. Her eyes are black, they contain thousands of stars and she often looks at me with eyes full of love and tolerance.
I love her hands most, her hands have to do a lot of housework: cleaning the floor, wash the dishes, wash the clothes, her hands also comb my hair and knit woolen scrafs for me.

My mother is the first teacher in my life. She taught me that life is too short for us to feel sad, so always be happy. Life is full of information, so accumulate knowledge gradually but frequently. She reminded me that failure was a common thing, success follows failure and sometimes, failure follow success.

Her love fosters a sense of calm in my mind, thank to her, I am protected from sorrows, pains and hurt. I feel so regretful because of not obeying her or let her down. Sometimes, she tells me off and punishes me strictly but I never hate her. Anyway, she is always gracious.

I went to everywhere in the world, I relised that home was where my mother was, I have learned everything and I know that being a grateful child is the first lesson I have to learn. All mothers are great, they provide their children with food, drink, clothes and love. Their loves heat children's souls and dry tears. I believes that "without my mother, the world would be meaningless/ and only my mother can create my own world"

Hi Bluesky ( I presume you are ambitious and a big fan of Oishi snack :)) ( base on your user name and your avatar ).
Thank you so much for your compliment :), but actually, in this website I meet many members whose English writing skills are much more excellent than mine : Elsa, Hadia and Ken.
+) Although I am running with the speed of a rocket and Elsa is walking, I never catch up with her. Her English is advanced with perfect skills. I am out of breath but can't achieve :)) ( She use many vocabulary which I bumped into in Ielts, toelf or even GRE,..flash cards ^^ )
+) Although I " swallow" all academic words but I never gain a great writing such as Hadia's. I admire her a lot and never feel jealous :) For me, Be one tenth of her is so great !
+) Although I have chances to practise speaking English with everyone all day, I can't speak naturally like Ken, He know a lot of idioms, slangs and phrase verbs...
But I am proud to be a student who can judge correctly my real talent and full of determination to improve my English skills.

Hello gianggiang!

My opinion about your short essay? -I'm glad to comply!
Wow, you've got a great sense of writing, especially the ways you portrait things and feelings draw a reader in. It's very insightful, entertaining (in rhythm) and worth reading!
The message is clear, although it is not stated emotionally or unemphatically.
Yes, I like it☆

By the way, what is your mother like? She must be on cloud nine when she has a chance to read such a heartfelt essay from you, who is the apple in the eye!
You know what, giang, why don't you keep writing a collection of essays/letters/stories? I'd love to read the world where you're just the way you are!
Hope you make good use of your creative power without being annoyed by things (people) that drag you down! ;))

hello Elsa ( yeah uh yeah )
My mother...I'll tell you a very short story about her, ( I couldn't stop laughing ) hah hah....hah, in fact, she was very happy. She said that it was great when I understood that she sacrificed everything for me despite of being a kid, but while reading the expression " my mother is full-figured/ fat", a vague look appeared on her face and from that moment, she determined to lose weight. ( wordless).

btw, have you ever wonder what your mother think of you ? Do you like to listen to a song about feelings and thoughts of mothers about their children ?, after listening, I'm sure you'll respect your mother much more. Actually, I intended to recommend it on Mother's day, but I can't wait.

Hello elsa, yeah yeah yeah
You know what, if I could find the greatest adj in the dictionary to express my feelings now, I would use it at once. Actually, my short essay is just a part of my real essay ( I cut it because there were some ideas that I couldn't express in English ).

And, while reading, did you feel that this essay is a little bit strange and you might think that a child wrote it ( because of simple thoughts such as " food, drink, clothes, sunflowers, stars". If so, yes, you're right. I wrote it when I was a child, exactly 8 years ago, when I was in grade 3 in elementary school. My teacher liked it ! Was I good at Lierature ? :) Now, in high school, I don't have chances to learn and write this literary genres :(
